DIY Batty dress

On ollut tarkoitus kirjoitella muista asioista, mutta flunssaiset aivot eivät oikein jaksa keskittyä. Myöskään viikonloppuna en saanut aikaiseksi juuri muuta, kuin makoiltua ja torkuttua. Jäi peräti kolme tapahtumaa välistä lauantaina tämän sairastelun vuoksi, harmittaa.

Noh, kuitenkin. Tulin selailleeksi vanhoja vaateluonnoksia ja päätin viimein toteuttaa niistä yhden. Työ on vielä kesken, mutta tässäpä vaiheita toistaiseksi. Olin siis ostanut tarjouksesta kolme ihan tavallista Hömpän t-paitamekkoa, joista ainakin kahta oli tarkoitus vähän tuunailla mieluisimmaksi.

Ensimmäisenä piirtelin paperille muutamat lepakot, jotka sitten sovittelin mekon etukappaleeseen. Liiduilla ääriraidat, ja eikun suttaamaan! Olisin voinut myös tulostella/piirtää kuvion suoraan esimerkiksi kontaktimuoville ja töpötellä sen avulla, mutta koska aikaisemmat kokeilut ovat tuottaneet suttuisia ääriviivoja, tyydyin tähän hitaampaan tapaan.

Kunhan saan lisää energiaa, tutkailen kannattaako piikkien kiinnittämistä suoraan kankaaseen edes harkita, vai teenkö erilliset kaistaleet esim. keinonahkasta; ompelenko kaistaleet kiinteiksi olkapäille vai teenkö niistä ihan erilliset irroitettavat... Sama juttu vyön kanssa, täytyy ensin katsoa löytyykö jemmasta sopivaa kangasta valmiiksi.

En ole tehnyt mitään luovaa aikoihin, joten tuntuu hyvältä jälleen aloittaa, vaikkakin ihan pienestä.

I've been sick with the flu and spent most of my days napping, since I can't get time off work. I was too sick to leave home this weekend, which lead me to missing out on three different events, boo! :(

I was browsing through some old sketches and thought I'd finally make one of them a reality. I had bought 3 very basic t-shirt dresses from H&M with the idea of modding them a little more exciting, but never got around to it. Being really bored and tired, I decided to start with fabric paint.

I already had all the items necessary:

~the dress

~a silver fabric paint

~an old paint brush

~fabric chalk

~makeup sponge

I drew a few bats on paper in different shapes and sizes and then outlined them onto the dress with the chalk. I could've used a stencil, but in the past I've always gotten bleeding lines with them, so I decided to use the more time-consuming method. Outlining the bats with the paintbrush and then using the sponge for the bigger areas. The particular fabric paint I used still needs to be ironed on to make it stick. Oh and make sure you use an opaque paint, especially on black background!

When I get some more energy, I'll see if it's worth it to attach the spikes directly on the dress or if I should add additional pleather patches on the shoulders - also if they should be integrated onto the dress or be removable etc... Same with the belt, I need to see if I've stashed away a suitable piece of fabric.

I haven't felt creative in ages, so it feels good to finally make some ideass happen, even if they're this small. :)

Halloween, part I: Bella Morte & Underworld ~ Release the Bats III

Oops, another month has passed again. I admit that blogging hasn't really been on my mind lately. I did however attend a nice Halloween party and actually made a costume for it, so lets look at that, shall we? :)

The final costume:

It was pretty much impossible to find the right shade of purple fabric, but I eventually chose a satin one. The colour looks very different in different lighting, and all the in progress pics are taken with my phone. I ended up using 1½ metres of purple satin and 1½ metres of black satin, 2 bags of foam filling + some remainders of an old pillow and about 12 metres of metal wire. I actually ended up shaving my eyebrows too in the middle of putting on my makeup, so now I'm sporting the cancer-alien look for a couple of weeks... :P

I actually would have loved to find some white/silver spray-on hair colour, but all I found was black and orange. Boo!

Poor unfortunately soul!

Gothic Ursula! ^_^ I've always loved the Little Mermaid (the original story more than the Disney version) and these days my black heart beats for the bad guys & gals ♥

If I'd had more time, I would've added suction cups to the tentacles - if I could figure out a way to do it that wouldn't drive me up the wall, that is. I would've also done the shell necklace and earrings and would've gotten my hair a more suitable colour. I didn't want to get a wig for this, even though trying to get my hair back to normal was absolutely horrible! I also took the easy way out and just bought a lace blouse with a suitable sweetheart neckline, even though it's not fully visible here. I wore a second-hand fishtail skirt under the tentacles, which I sewed as a belt.

Overall I'm really happy with the way the whole costume came out, considering I only spent like three days putting it together. :) The makeup could've been better, especially with the contouring, but I got a lot of compliments and was happy with it myself, so yay! ♥

The party was nice, lots of people had dressed up and really put a lot of effort in their costumes! I didn't actually take any pictures at the party, but you can find some here (only for FB-users, sorry!).

Now I need to go get some rest, so I can try to be productive at work tomorrow. Only 363 more days till Halloween! o/

Lumous 2013

I finally have some energy to write about the highlight of my summer, Lumous Gothic Festival. I couldn't attend all the festivities this year because I couldn't get time off of work, so I made the most of the time I had. I had to skip Thursday Opening club altogether due to sleep deprivation and Friday being a regular working day.

When I got home from work on Friday, I spend an hour or two napping so I'd have the energy to party all night! I was originally supposed to head to Klubi by nine, but ended up being ready around 9:15, when Tinde and TomVi picked me up on their way. The only pictures I have from Friday were taken by other people, and are ...well, not that publishable. ;) Shame, since I don't have a decent picture of my outfit, I was really loving the Lip Service skirt, got to wear it for the first time!

Friday ended up being really great, I met two lovely ladies who confessed being readers of my blog, met several familiar faces, had a few drinks, ignored the pouring rain outside the club, danced my butt off during Cryo's gig, talked to a person from a year ago, ignored another from a couple years back, ended up walking home with big blisters on the balls of my feet, had a random stranger try to chat me up on the way home and laughed at a police car driving reeeeaaaaallly slow past me. A good evening with lots of fun! ^__^

Saturday's plan was to head out to Dark Market at Vapriikki by 12:00. I hitched a ride with TomVi and Tinde again as it began to rain and I was running late. We met up with Pupuhyppy, Sipulimies and Disa, checked out what the sellers had to offer (which wasn't that much this year, IMHO), and waited for one more person who chose not to show up in the end. I bought a pair of spiderweb stockings and a Lumous-key chain for my work badge.

From the market we headed out for some food. We were planning on going to Napoli for some pizza but didn't have the patience to wait for a table so we chose to get some Kotipizza instead. We also drove the guys nuts by wanting to go look at some shoes and clothes, but made it up with waffles. :) Then we parted ways to prepare for another night of partying.

Pupuhyppy came over to my place and we got ready together. I was having a wardrobe malfunction because I knew which skirt I wanted to wear but couldn't get any top to work with it. She was very helpful with the options and it was nice having her company, it's been too long since the two of us hang out together! ♥

I had ordered some hair chalk from ebay, but they didn't arrive in time. I ended up mixing Fudge purple and pink together with some conditioning treatment, and dyed the ends of my hair. I love it!
I tried something new with my hair and gathered it all onto the right side of my head. It looked really nice on this side, but I'm not too sure about the left side...

It may not look like it, but I was quite sloshed around the time of this picture (already, hah!) and it looked like I was groping Pupuhyppy, hence the cropping! (also to hide my ice cream baby)

I had a lot of fun on Saturday, despite the fact that Deviant UK had to cancel due to perfecly understandable and unfortunate reasons. We got to the club quite late, and spent most of the night on the terrace. I just love all these people and the feel of it all. And yeah, some of these gothy people are really hard to warm up to and tend to stick to their own familiar groups and it sucks, but I love the fact that there are so many clubs and happenings like this in Finland. I feel like I belong.

Anywho, I had a bit too much to drink, but man, I had so much fun! I slept really late on Sunday morning, so I missed the goth bloggers meet on Gothnic, but managed to drag my ass to the park eventually to meet up with Pupuhyppy and Sipulimies. I stayed for a while before heading home for a shower and a nap, and eventually decided it would be best to skip the End club altogether. I didn't really want to, but I was exhausted (I had been working overtime the past week, 12 days straight at the office had left me half-dead) and had to wake up early for work on Monday morning - with the lovely addition of a dentist's appointment in the morning. I'd like to think that I was missed, at least by one person, but one can never tell.
I'm quite bummed that it's all over now, but seeing how I was immediately back to my old tricks, maybe it's just a good thing... ;)

...aaaand no surprises about the face.

And in other news - Boyfriend and I broke up on Monday. Didn't come up as a surprise to anyone close to me seeing as I'd been unhappy for a while. It was a mutual decision in the end, no drama, no fuss. A bit awkward in the end, but a relief to both of us, I think. :) Onwards to new adventures! ♥

Meninpäs sitten aamulla unohtamaan tuon "goottien teemapäivän", ja vietin päivää kovinkin pinkeissä merkeissä. Värillisesti siis, en ole mitenkään intopinkeänä papereiden aakkostamisesta. :D Tykkään hurjasti, kun saan pukeutua töihin miten huvittaa, ja olenkin onnellisena mennyt sihteerilookilla. Pitäisikin muuten hankkia lisää kynähameita... Kenkinä on olleet nyt vain ballerinat, onpahan ainakin mukavat. Iltapäivän kuvia varten kiskaisin hihat kokopituudelle, muuten nuo oli kyllä kyynärpäähän asti taitettuna, oli sen verran lämmintä päivällä. Auringonvalo ♥

I kinda forgot it was World Goth Day, and my day ended up being very pink. I wore my forgotten pink-striped blouse with a pencil skirt I bought second-hand, kind of a sexretary look. :P Need more pencil skirts...

I also went to pick up a couple of fabrics I had bought earlier online through a re-location sale. I found two smaller pieces of fabrics in addition to the 5 metres I pre-purchased. Pink and black! The tri-colored fake fur was a must, I love it! I might turn it into fluffies, since I'm lacking cutesy ones. :)

Wabbu 2012

Oli melkoisen rauhallinen vappu tänä vuonna. Maanantaina lähdin istuskelemaan Näsinpuistoon napostelueväiden ja kauhuviinipullon kera, oli Jööttipiknik siellä. Tapasin viimein hurmaavan Mystralin, mikä oli varsin mukavaa. :) Ilma vaan tahtoi olla turhan viileä, ei tietenkään tullut puettua tarpeeksi vaatetta ylle. Mitään kuvasaldoa miulta ei löydy, sillä huonona bloggaajana kamera pysytteli laukussa koko päivän.

Tiistaina taasen nukuin rauhassa aamulla pitkään, ja menin sitten lopulta Pupuhypyn luo ompeluprojektin pariin. Jatkettiin samalla linjalla vielä seuraavanakin päivänä, en vaan harmikseni saanut tekemääni toppia valmiiksi, kun menetin hermoni tasosauman kanssa takkuamiseen ja sitten pitikin jo lähteä sovituille kirppistreffeille. Onhan miulla toki omakin ompelukone, sekä äitin saumuri täällä, mutta Pupuhypyllä on parempi peruskone, ja saumuri, johon saa myös tasosauman.

Muuten olenkin sitten viettänyt nämä pari päivää siivoillen ja järjestellen, sillä vietämme yhteisiä synttäreitämme Pupuhypyn kanssa lauantai-iltana. (Tiistai oli siis oma vanhenemispäiväni, ja huominen Pupuhypyn) Tarkoitus ei ollut järjestää mitään megabileitä, eikä montaa ihmistä näyttäisi olevan tulossakaan, tuntuu vaan, että edessä on jälleen yhdet meidän feilaavat hippalot. Innostus ei siis ole ainakaan tässä vaiheessa kauhean suuri, toivottavasti huomenna on pirteämpi fiilis.

Väsäilin ruokaa kaappien ja pakastimen antimista: couscousta, pakastevihanneksia, sekä yrttinen pussikastike.

So my birthday was on Tuesday, and it's Pupuhyppy's turn tomorrow. We're hosting a small get-together at my place, so I've spent the past two days cleaning and organising my place. I've also been at Pupuhyppy's for a sewing project that I didn't actually finish, since I got really tired of fighting with the sewing machine. I got really close though!!

This little flea went to the market, this one bought too much stuff, this one ran all the way home with bags filled with goodies!

Päätinkin nyt hirmuisen kilometripostauksen sijaan jakaa tämän kahteen osaan. Postauksen aikaansaaminen on tänään ollut todella pitkissä kantimissa, sillä aloitin heti aamusta päästyäni takaisin kotiin, muttta simahdin varmaan kolmeen eri kertaan tähän koneen äärelle, eikä kuvatkaan olleet valmiina postausta varten...

Mutta takaisin aiheeseen. Tässä siis loput kirppislöytöni! Ostin 2 ekaa numeroa Crimson Magazinea selailtavaksi, näitä kun ei ole aikaisemmin tullut vastaan.Vähän on nurkat ottaneet hittiä tai hiirenkorvilla, mutta kyllähän näitä lukee vielä monet kerrat.

Niin ja miusta on kuulemma tulossa ihan mummo, kun hamuan samettia, pitsiä, ja matalia kenkiä. Noh, tykkään silti tästä liehuhihaisesta samettikuvioisesta paidasta, jossa on kimaltavia palloja koristeena. Nuo eivät siis ole varsinaisesti paljetteja, vaan ovat liimattuna kiinteäksi kankaaseen. Hihat on myöskin tosi kivat, kun ne eivät ole täyspituiset, joten nuo leveämmät osat ei ui kaikessa mahdollisessa.

Kenkäosastolla tulin hankkineeksi kahdet siistit avokkaat sekä yhdet pikkukorolliset ballerinat. Toiset  avokkaista olivat harmikseni vähäsen liian tiukat, joten pitää katsoa saisiko niitä jotenkin vähän venytettyä, ne kun ovat siisti ja pelkistetyt, joten pitäisin ne kyllä mielelläni.

Pupuhyppy tulee takuuvarmasti inhoamaan näitä popoja! :D Eiväthän nämä tosiaan mitkään maailman kauneimmat kengät ole, mutta olivat mukavat jalassa, vaikka olivatkin kokoa liian suuret. :P

Myös sinimusta tyllipitsiminihame tuli hankittua, ja voi pojat, tämä on melkoinen vesirajayllätys...

Kokoelma muista ostoksista: kaikki neljät kengät; musta kuviollinen minihame; sovittamatta ostettu röyhelöpaitis, joka olikin sitten vähän liian kireä; silkkinen neliönmuotoinen valkomusta pallokuvioinen huivi; ja kaunis violetti ristikaulakoru. Tykkäilen varsinkin kahdesta viimeisestä! :)

Meinataan muuten juhlistaa synttäreitämme taas yhdessä Pupuhypyn kanssa, tällä kerralla hänen synttäriviikonloppunaan. Hän onkin jo väsäillyt itselleen asua minihippaloihimme, ja innosti miutkin kehittämään jotain kivaa vaatetta. Kävinkin sitten tiistaina Eurokankaalla ryövättävänä, ja mukaan tarttui neljää erilaista kiiltotrikoota, kun en vain osannut päättää! Tuo alimmainen tosin oli paksumpaa kangasta, joten siitä väsäilen vielä jonkin hamosen.

Hui, väriä! Kuvassa siis mustapohjaiset hopeana kiiltävät ohuemmat trikott, beigen/taupensävyinen kiiltotrikoo, sekä käärmekuvioinen musta paksumpi trikoo.

Sain myöskin jo ainakin osittaista synttärilahjaa, nimittäin valokuvakehykseeni samaa sarjaa olevan korkkitaulun. Ehdin kylläkin ja maalata tuon korkkiosion hopealla sprayllä, joten se on paljon nätimpi tällä hetkellä. Minä ja ruskea väri vain emme tule toimeen!

I've bought so much stuff I decided to divide them into two posts. It has taken me all day to write these, since I dozed off like three times, I didn't have any pictures ready for posting, and I spent quite a while playing Sims Social on FB... Oops.

Crimson Magazine is a gothic culture & fashion magazine from goths to goth ladies in Finland. These are the first two issues, I hadn't seen them before, so decided to check them out. They have reviews on music, hairdyes, books and movies, as well as drink recipes, articles and style pictures.

Oh and apparently I'm turning into an old lady, obaachan, because I've been into velvet, lace and flat shoes. This according to Pupuhyppy. However, I still consider the velvet patterned shirt a great find, my feet are enjoying their blister-free existance and well, black lace is just too damn pretty! :P

Oh and Pupuhyppy is going to hate the ballerinapups in the two-parted picture! :D They're too round, too flat, and just allround too ugly for her taste. Fortunately she wasn't there to stop me from buying them, and even though they're a size too big, they're still quite nice. :P The first pumps were a bit too tight, so I have to figure out a way to stretch them out a bit.

Other stuff I found includes a ruffled blouse that was maybe a size too small; a black patterned mini skirt with a layer of tulle underneath; a silky black and white square scarf with small polka dots; and a cross necklace with purple pleather string and bling. I especially like the latter two! ♥

Since it's my birthday on Tuesday and Pupuhyppy's on next Saturday we're going to host a small gettogether. Small, because just like last year, pretty much nobody seems to be attending this year either... Anyways, she already has somewhat of an outfit planned for the event, and decided that I need to make something to wear as well. So on Tuesday I headed to the fabric store Eurokangas to be ripped off just by purchasing a few metres of fabric. Eurokangas pretty much has the monopoly on fabrics in Finland and thus ridiculous prices. Dislike! I ended up getting four different pieces of stretch tricot, since I just couldn't decide on which one to get! The black one on the bottom is quite thick, so I plan on making a skirt. :)

I also got an early birthday present, a pin board from the same line I already have a picture frame of. Since I don't much care for the colour brown, I already spraypainted it cork part silver, and the whole thing looks much nicer now. Will post a picture of the board once I put it on the wall. :P

Vaatteet on mun aatteet?

Alkaa pikkuhiljaa ihmetyttämään nämä ihmiset, jotka kiinnittävät huomionsa pelkkiin ulkoisiin seikkoihin ihmisissä ja muutenkin ihan kaikessa. Ystäväni heitto yhteiselle tutullemme minuun liittyen "No tänään se sentään näyttää gootilta, mutta näkisitpä sen kodin, kauheesti pinkkiä!" jäi oikeasti kaivelemaan aivosoluja melkoisen inhasti, varsinkin kun henkilön itsensä "goottius" ei kyllä sanottavasti yllä sitä pintaa syvemmälle. Yleisestikin ottaen ärsyttää se, että ulkonäön perusteella tuomitaan kaikki. Eikö sillä pääkopan sisällöllä ja yleisellä mielenlaadulla ole mitään väliä? Itse en muutenkaan luokittele itseäni mihinkään kategoriaan kuuluvaksi, inhoan sitä, että ihminen pitää tunkea ties minkälaiseen muottiin, ja auta armias, jos siitä vähänkin satut sitten poikkeamaan! Varsinkin, kun näissä ns. erityisemmissä tyylisuunnissakin on silti tietyt normit, joita tulisi noudattaa. Argh!

Pidän mustasta, olen aina pitänyt, vaikken nuorempana kauheasti saanutkaan pitää mustia vaatteita. Tämäkin johtui vain ja ainoastaan siitä, että suurin osa vaatteistani tuli kierrätettynä äidin tuttujen lapsilta tai sukulaisilta, rahaa kun ei kauheasti mihinkään fiiniin koskaan ollut. Eipä sitä silloin kauheasti mitään ylimääräistä kaivannutkaan, oli kiitollinen siitä mitä oli, ja että on ehjä ja rakastava perhe. Kuitenkin, olin pienenä varsinainen prinsessatyttö, (7-vuotiaana saatu äidin ompelema vaaleanpunainen pitsimekko on vieläkin tallella btw) ja vaikka värit teini-iässä jäivätkin melko vähiin, palasi pinkki kuitenkin melko nopeasti Japanissa oleilun aikana ja sen jälkeenkin takaisin ensin kaiken käyttötavaran ja lisäksi myöskin vaatteiden muodossa. Myös violetti on luikerrellut esiin, ja metsänvihreä on ollut lempivärejäni pitkän aikaa. ^^

Lyhyestä virsi kaunis: musta, pinkki, hopea, violetti, ja semmoinen ihana tumma vihreä ovat väreistä kestosuosikeitani, ja niistä yhtä tai useampaa esiintyy jossain muodossa joko kämpässäni tai pukeutumisessani. MIKSI kaiken pitäisi olla täysin mustaa, jos tahdon lisätä muutakin väriä sekamelskaan? MIKSI aina pitäisi käyttää niitä ylihinnoiteltuja rytkyjä, kuten ketjuista painavia renksuhousuja, kiristäviä korsetteja (joihin ei ole vieläkään onnistunut totuttautumaan), Lippyn minimaalisia minihameita arkena julkisesti niin, että perse ja toosa vilkkuu keskellä kaupunkia? MIKSI kesällä pitäisi käyttää pelkkää mustaa, kun muutenkin ahdistaa ja hikeä tunkee joka ihohuokosesta, ja vastaavasti sitten talvella tunkea ne minarit päälle niin, että perse on yleisen näyttelyesineen asemassa lisäksi myös ihan jäässä? Ei voi ymmärtää....ehkä olen liian vanha tähänkin touhuun. -__-

Hiuksistani myöskin sen verran, että omasta päästänikin löytyisi keinotakkuja, jos vain päänahkani moista kestäisi. Vaan on se tullut jo pariin otteeseen todettua, että nuo itsetekemät/jonkun muun käsityönä värkkäämät ovat yleensä liian karheita herkälle päänahalleni, ja sitten nuo valmisrastat taasen ovat niin surkeaa laatua, että ovat heti ihan pörröiset, ja menevät koko ajan vain huonompaan suuntaan. Olen väsännyt villarastoja, mutta ei kauheasti houkuta tunkea niitä kesäksi päähän + että eivät ole valmiitakaan vielä kaikki.

Hiuksethan tosiaan vuosi sitten näytti vielä tältä melko äkillisen poikkaisun jäljiltä, kuva tasan vuoden takaa.

Ja nythän tuota pituutta on ihan kivasti tosiaan ehtinyt kertyäkin, lisää saisi kyllä tulla. Väri on, kuten mainittua, vaihtumassa takaisin siihen pinkkiin, mikä joskus oli. Tässäpä kuvatodisteita siltä ajalta, kyseessä siis kevät 2008.

Tuo ei toki ole ensimmäinen kerta, kun hiukset ovat tuota väriä ilmaisseet, sattui van olemaan semmoinen väli, kun jostain syystä kyseinen värisävy olikin muutettu täysin violetiksi (kyllä, sama paketti, sama värisävy, numero tuli tarkistettua useampaan kertaan, mutta jos valmistaja vaihtaa sisältöä ja kuvaa, niin pakkohan se on uskoa), ja meni muutama vuosi, ennen kuin samaa sävyä oli jälleen saatavilla. Meinasin nopeastikin tähän löytää yhden vanhan kuvan, mutta sen pysyessä kateissa, täytyy tyytyä lisäämään sen myöhemmin.

Musiikillisesti allekirjoittanut sattuu diggailemaan EBM:ää (And One, mind.in.a.box, VNV Nation, De/Vision, Mesh, Deviant UK, Machinae Supremacy, all:my:faults...), suomalaista metallia (Sonata Arctica, Sentenced, Entwine, Charon, Turmion Kätilöt, satunnaisesti myös Kotiteollisuus, Apulanta...), ja joitain satunnaisia pääasiallisesti amerikkalaisia bändejä/, kuten esim. Linkin Park, Emilie Autumn, Gackt...onhan näitä vaikka kuinka paljon, ja turha nillittää genreistä sen kummemmin, kunhan se ei ole (c)rappia taikka shithoppia, ja satun pitämään siitä, kuuntelen sitä. Tällä hetkellä lähinnä huolettaa oma mielenterveys, sillä olen yllättänyt itseni kuuntelemasta Lady Gagan Bad Romancea parina viime päivänä...

Mjooh, nyt kyllä ajatus katkeilee taas sen verta nätisti, että ehkä on parempi välillä nukkua, ja jatkaa sitten myöhemmin virkeämmin mielin. Kuulumisiin!
